Business Data Analyst

SUMMARY OF POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

The position is primarily responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing data to help the organization improve its operations, strategies, and decision-making processes. This role involves working closely with various departments to understand their data needs, creating reports and dashboards, and providing insights that drive business growth and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Data Collection and Processing: Gather data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, and internal systems. Clean, validate, and organize data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations. Use statistical methods and tools to interpret data and generate insights.
• Reporting and Visualization: Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present findings to stakeholders. Use tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel to communicate data effectively.
• Business Insights: Provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making. Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
• Performance Tracking: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess business performance. Develop and maintain tracking systems to measure the impact of business initiatives.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, finance, operations, and IT, to understand their data needs. Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Data Governance: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational policies and regulations. Maintain documentation for data processes and analyses.
• Tool and Technology Utilization: Stay updated on the latest data analysis tools, techniques, and technologies. Use programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and software (e.g., Excel) for data analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR TRAINING):

• Required Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, economics, statistics, computer science, or related field
• Preferred Education:
• A Master’s degree or certification in Data Analysis, Business Analytics, or a related field is a plus.
• Required Experience:
• 2+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related role.
• Preferred Experience:
• Experience with advanced statistical analysis, predictive modeling, or machine learning techniques is a plus.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and databases (e.g., SQL).
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R, SAS).
• Strong knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position will be performed in an office environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position will involve sitting for extended periods of time and possibly lifting items weighing 25 pounds

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

There is little to no travel, beyond commuting to the office, expected of this position.
