Assist with monitoring excavation and trenching operations, including access and egress, spoil placement, protective systems, underground utility hazards, and other applicable requirements.
Observe heavy-equipment operations, backing procedures, spotter practices, equipment/pedestrian interaction, and jobsite traffic control.
Assist with monitoring other construction safety requirements including PPE, fall protection, silica exposure, hazard communication, electrical hazards, and lifting/rigging practices.
Conduct new-hire safety orientations and assist with toolbox talks and company safety meetings.
Coordinate outside safety training when required.
Maintain employee safety training and certification records.
Maintain company safety files and assist with required OSHA recordkeeping.
Assist with OSHA 300, 301, and 300A records as applicable.
Assist management with workplace injury, accident, near-miss, equipment incident, and property-damage investigations.
Prepare incident documentation and assist with tracking corrective actions.
Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and project-specific safety planning.
Maintain inspection, training, incident, and corrective-action records.
Help track safety trends and recurring issues.
Work with field and shop personnel to promote safe operation of equipment, trucks, trailers, tools, and company vehicles.
Participate in project startup and safety meetings as needed.
Help maintain and update company safety policies, procedures, and written programs.
Stay current with applicable construction safety requirements and continue developing knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
