MS Head Baseball Coach

Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our middle school baseball program at James E. Bazzell Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in baseball, a commitment to developing young athletes, and the ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment. This seasonal position requires effective communication skills, leadership qualities, and a focus on the holistic development of student-athletes both on and off the field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans that enhance players' skills and teamwork.
• Coach and mentor student-athletes during practices and games, emphasizing sportsmanship, commitment, and respect.
• Organize and conduct tryouts, selecting team members based on skill, effort, and attitude.
• Create and maintain a safe and positive environment for all participants.
• Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
• Monitor academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring they maintain eligibility and prioritize their education.
• Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote a cohesive athletic program within the school.
• Manage team logistics, including scheduling games, transportation, and equipment needs.
• Attend all games and practices, demonstrating commitment and support for the team.
• Promote the values of teamwork, discipline, and hard work among players.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level, is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with players, parents, and school staff.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
• A genuine passion for teaching and coaching young athletes in a supportive and educational environment.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the baseball season.
