Original job description

About the company Alignment is building the future of team intelligence - a platform that automatically gathers Slack messages and scattered files into one organized knowledge base. It structures information with no manual work, while an AI agent reads raw data, verifies facts across business apps, and delivers reliable, up-to-date answers. Alignment helps organizations turn everyday conversations and documents into trusted, living knowledge that keeps teams aligned and informed. The Opportunity To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Security Engineer to join our Platform Security team. Our commitment to user trust is unwavering, and this new team member will play a crucial role in maintaining the trust of millions of users who rely on our products. With their expertise, we can implement security enhancements throughout the back-end and underlying infrastructure to address potential threats. Alignment's engineers and researchers have the freedom to innovate and uncover breakthroughs - and, in turn, influence our product roadmap. The complexity of our technical challenges is growing rapidly as we scale our interfaces, algorithms, and infrastructure.

As a Security Engineer in Platform Security, you will:

Develop and implement security processes to identify, evaluate, and mitigate security risks in our cloud infrastructure.
Partner with Cloud Infra, Data, and Product Engineering teams to define and drive secure-by-default environments supporting product needs.
Experiment with and develop AI-based tools to enable the Security team to move even faster.
Define and monitor impactful metrics to guide the platform security program forward.
Educate and mentor team members and developers on security best practices.
Collaborate and build trust with different stakeholders to advise them on matters of security.

Qualifications

Has 6+ years of experience securing cloud infrastructure at scale in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Proven experience automating secure infrastructure using Terraform (or similar IaC tooling).
Experience with CI/CD infrastructure, containerization (Docker, K8s), and an understanding of the associated risks.
Understanding of zero-trust and IAM principles for both human and non-human identities.
Familiarity with software engineering or scripting in languages like Python, Java, or Go.
The ability to think like an adversary to identify risk, and then build like an engineer to mitigate those risks.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
Has a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance, proactively manages tasks and priorities across multiple projects, analyzes and executes work efficiently, collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in fast-paced, results-driven environments.

Compensation and Benefits Alignment offers all team members competitive pay along with a benefits package encompassing the following and more:

Excellent health care (including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits)
Disability and life insurance options
401(k) and RRSP matching
Paid parental leave
20 days of paid time off per year, 12 days of paid holidays per year, two floating holidays per year, and flexible sick time
Generous stipends (including those for caregiving, pet care, wellness, your home office, and more)
Annual professional development budget and opportunities

Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary ranges for this position are outlined below by compensation zone and may be modified in the future.
