Original job description

As a Therapist, you are responsible for delivering clinical care to adults in treatment for substance use disorders, serious mental illness, and co-occurring conditions. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, you will carry a caseload of clients from admission through discharge, completing screenings, biopsychosocial assessments, and treatment plans, and updating those plans as each client progresses. You will provide individual and group counseling, meet one on one with clients to guide their treatment goals and aftercare planning, and complete accurate clinical documentation on the same day services are delivered. This is a hands-on clinical role at the center of the treatment team. You will step in during moments of crisis, coordinate care with nursing, case management, and outside referral sources, and contribute as an active member of an interdisciplinary team. We expect our therapists to keep growing in the work, so you will stay current with research and best practices, complete continuing education, maintain good standing with your licensing board, and help train fellow staff when needed. Key Responsibilities • Provide high-quality, compassionate, and ethical treatment to clients as scheduled in psycho-educational groups. • Meet one on one with patients to provide guidance on treatment goals and assist with aftercare planning. • Participate in clinical staff meetings, training, and other activities as required. • Actively participate as a positive member of an interdisciplinary treatment team. • Complete the treatment plan for each client in your caseload and regularly update it based on client progress. • Complete clinical assessments and documentation as necessary, including but not limited to treatment plans, biopsychosocial assessments, concurrent reviews, discharge plans, etc. • Schedule individual appointments as directed by the supervisor. • Complete accurate clinical documentation on the same day as the date of service. • Maintain good standing with the appropriate board and insurance entities, if applicable. • Complete all recommended continuing education requirements. • Secure client information per HIPAA standards. • Provide in-service training as needed. Qualifications • Degree in counseling with a minimum of 1 year of behavioral health experience. • At minimum 1 year of experience working with trauma-related populations • Knowledge of DSM-V and SMI diagnoses, psychopharmacology, substance abuse, addictions, recovery, relapse prevention, and 12-step treatment philosophy. • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, their loved ones, and professionals. • Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
