Operating Engineer

• Job Summary: The Operating Engineer / Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials and supporting the organization of the construction yard. This role supports the daily operations of an outdoor construction materials yard located in Sandy Creek, NY. Equipment experience shall include operations of both light duty and heavy-duty forklifts, telehandlers capable of handling materials upwards of 30,000 lbs. This position will require equipment operating in extreme weather conditions at times including rain, snow, and humidity. The pay range for this position is $54.00 per hour, please note that the expected start date for this role is the first week of January 2027. Job Functions:

• Follows company Health & Safety Program to ensure their own safety as well as safety those on site.
• Operates equipment for safe unloading, storage and loading of large and small electrical construction materials.
• Effectively interface with customer representatives on site
• Other duties as assigned
• Equipment experience shall include the operations of both light duty & heavy-duty forklifts, telehandlers, and wheel loaders.
• Responsible for daily equipment checks to ensure equipment is in safe working order
• Utilizes company truck to deliver and pick up materials from yard to jobsite.

Job Qualifications (required):

• Certified forklift operator - required
• Two (2) to four (4) years in a heavy forklift operator role
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience with moving and managing materials up to 30,000 lbs. in weight
• Experience working outdoors in extreme weather conditions
• Experience in shipping and receiving
• OSHA 30 Certification is required.
• Experience in the electrical construction industry (preferred)
• Experience with ERP inventory management systems (preferred)
• First Aid and CPR Certified (preferred)
