Dietary Aide

Summary: Perform assigned work in preparing and serving food, cleaning food service areas, equipment and utensils.

&sect; Tenth grade or above desirable

&sect; Proficiency in English is required.

Experience:

&sect; Experience in dietary department, large volume food preparation and service preferred.

Essential Functions:

&sect; Demonstrates professional conduct and ethics according to Kindred policy and procedure.

&sect; Performs job duties safely as specified in the physical, sensory and mental requirements.

&sect; Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team.

&sect; Prepares patient trays according to instructions/order.

&sect; Employs proper food handling techniques whether in preparation of food or setting up or serving trays.

&sect; Cleans, washes and sanitizes dishes, silverware and utensils used to service patients and others.

&sect; Assists in maintaining the general cleanliness of the dishwashing area.

&sect; Cleans work area and equipment as assigned.

&sect; Puts up stock in food storage areas and refrigerators as assigned.

&sect; Delivers food, nourishments and supplies to nursing units, other areas as assigned.

&sect; Performs duties using proper infection control techniques and using protective equipment as needed.

&sect; Performs all duties using proper safety techniques.

&sect; Essential to attend and participate in in-service education opportunities.

&sect; Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

&sect; Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques.

&sect; Ability to read and write in English at a level appropriate for the job.

&sect; Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members.

&sect; Ability to be patient and polite.
