Job Title: Welder/Fitter 1st ShiftShift: 1st Pay: Up to $30/hr Location: Cuyahoga Heights, OHJob DescriptionThis role focuses on fitting and welding components for industrial combustion equipment in a heavy manufacturing environment. You will perform GMAW Pulse (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialty alloys, complete a variety of weld joints, and carry out basic fabrication tasks. The position requires an experienced welder who can work independently with minimal training, read blueprints and weld symbols accurately, and consistently produce high-quality welds in a production setting.Responsibilities

  • Fit and weld components used in manufactured industrial combustion products.
  • Perform GMAW Pulse (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, RA 330, and combinations of these materials as required.
  • Complete multiple weld configurations, including groove welds, T-joints, open-corner welds, and other common welding joints.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, dimensions, and fabrication instructions to determine proper fit-up and welding requirements.
  • Measure and lay out work accurately using a tape measure and applicable shop tools.
  • Position, clamp, and tack-weld fabricated components prior to final welding to ensure correct alignment and fit.
  • Use weld positioners to properly orient parts during welding to achieve optimal weld quality and access.
  • Perform basic fabrication tasks including cutting, grinding, shearing, drilling, and sawing as needed to prepare and finish components.
  • Carry out thermal cutting and grinding operations when necessary to meet design specifications.
  • Repair or rework components when required, including straightening, reshaping, dismantling, and reassembling parts to correct defects or meet updated requirements.
  • Self-inspect completed work to verify weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with specifications before sending components to quality control.
  • Maintain consistent weld quality while working within a production manufacturing environment and meeting output expectations.
  • Handle production fitting and welding on components for industrial combustion equipment, working across carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialty alloys.
  • Fit, position, clamp, tack-weld, and fully weld components independently from start to finish.
  • Use fabrication equipment and hand tools safely and effectively, including shears, saws, grinders, hand drills, and cutting equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members and follow shop instructions and safety procedures to support efficient production operations.

Essential Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced welding experience with the ability to weld independently with minimal training (this is not an entry-level role).
  • Hands-on experience with GMAW / Pulse MIG welding.
  • Hands-on experience with GTAW / TIG welding.
  • Ability to weld carbon steel, including grades such as 1010 and A36.
  • Ability to weld stainless steel, including grades such as 304 and 316.
  • Capability to work with different materials and combinations of materials in a production environment.
  • Experience performing multiple types of weld joints, including groove welds, T-joints, open-corner welds, and other common welding configurations.
  • Ability to use a weld positioner to orient parts correctly during welding.
  • Strong blueprint-reading ability to interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to read and understand weld symbols accurately.
  • Accurate tape-measure reading skills for layout and verification of dimensions.
  • Production fitting and welding experience, not limited to repetitive basic MIG welding.
  • Comfort using fabrication equipment and tools, including shears, saws, grinders, hand drills, and cutting equipment.
  • Ability to fit, position, clamp, tack-weld, and fully weld components independently.
  • Ability to self-inspect completed work for weld quality and dimensional accuracy before quality control review.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience welding RA 330 or similar specialty alloys.
  • Pipe welding experience in an industrial or fabrication environment.
  • Approximately 510 years of welding and fitting experience.
  • D1 welding certification or other relevant welding certifications.
  • One-year certificate from a technical school or college in welding, fabrication, or a related field.
  • Experience working across carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialty alloys in a production setting.
  • A fabrication skillset beyond welding, including broader metalworking and assembly experience.
