Warehouse Worker

Job Title: Warehouse Worker 1st ShiftJob DescriptionThis role is a hands-on warehouse position on 1st shift, responsible for handling incoming and outgoing inventory, supporting production lines, and maintaining accurate digital records of materials. You will depalletize and put inventory away, pull parts to supply production lines, and operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, ladders, and occasionally a sitting forklift. The position requires regular manual lifting, use of RF scanners, and basic computer reporting to ensure inventory accuracy and smooth warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Depalletize incoming inventory and place materials in designated storage locations.
• Pull parts and materials from inventory to supply production lines in a timely manner.
• Use digital inventory tracking systems to record, update, and maintain accurate inventory data.
• Operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks, ladders, and occasionally a sitting forklift, in a safe and efficient manner.
• Utilize RF scanners to scan, track, and verify materials during receiving, stocking, and picking processes.
• Perform general warehouse duties such as picking, packing, receiving, and shipping as needed.
• Break down cardboard boxes safely using porcelain knives and dispose of materials according to facility procedures.
• Lift and move materials weighing up to 45 pounds manually throughout the shift.
• Stand and move continuously for the duration of the shift while performing warehouse tasks.
• Prepare and send short written reports when needed to communicate inventory status or issues.
• Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily production and shipping schedules.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in inventory, warehouse, picking/packing, receiving, or forklift operations.
• Experience utilizing RF scanners for inventory tracking and verification.
• Computer literacy and comfort working with fully digital inventory tracking systems.
• Ability to stand and move for the duration of a 10-hour shift.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds manually on a regular basis.
• Demonstrated reliability with at least 1 year of tenure or longevity with past employers, ideally in a warehouse role.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and ladders, and occasionally a sitting forklift.
• Strong attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory records and follow procedures.
• Basic written communication skills to prepare and send short reports when required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous clerk experience in a warehouse or inventory environment is beneficial.
• Experience in general labor, receiving, shipping, and shipping & receiving functions.
• Comfort working in a facility that is not climate controlled.
• Ability to work occasional additional hours on Fridays when needed.
• Commitment to safe work practices when using tools such as porcelain knives and material handling equipment.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a warehouse facility with a small mom-and-pop shop feel and a collaborative team atmosphere. The operation runs 1st shift only, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with additional work on Fridays as needed, typically 68 hours. The facility is not climate controlled, so temperatures can vary with the seasons. Work is physically active, requiring standing and moving for most of the shift and manually lifting up to 45 pounds. Daily tasks involve using pallet jacks, ladders, RF scanners, porcelain knives for breaking down cardboard, and digital inventory systems. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and efficient material flow throughout the warehouse. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
