Warehouse Associate

Job Title: Warehouse AssociateJob DescriptionThe Warehouse Associate plays a key role in the efficient flow of goods through the facility by receiving, unpacking, verifying, and moving products into designated storage areas. This position ensures that inventory is properly handled, organized, and prepared for shipment, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming goods and materials, unpack shipments, and verify quantities and product accuracy against documentation.
• Move products into appropriate storage areas by cutting string, breaking down products, removing all items from the floor, and leveling product in assigned slots.
• Identify and separate damaged products, ensuring proper documentation and handling according to company procedures.
• Assemble customer orders from stock, accurately pick items, and place orders on pallets or shelves for staging and shipment.
• Relocate completed orders to designated holding areas for the shipping department to process.
• Perform loading and unloading of materials from trucks or other delivery vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Handle general warehouse duties including packaging, materials handling, picking, and packing to support production and order fulfillment.
• Use an electric pallet jack to safely move pallets and materials throughout the warehouse; operate reach trucks and forklifts if qualified.
• Maintain strong attention to quality and detail when handling, labeling, and organizing products.
• Use computers occasionally to process invoices, enter orders, or update inventory information as required.
• Support a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment by following all safety guidelines and reporting any hazards.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to ensure efficient workflow and timely order completion.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience operating an electric pallet jack in a warehouse or similar environment.
• Experience with loading and unloading, shipping and receiving, and general warehouse operations.
• Ability to identify damaged products and follow proper handling procedures.
• Strong attention to quality and detail in all aspects of product handling and order assembly.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and documenting work.
• Ability to occasionally use computers for processing invoices, entering orders, or updating records.
• Capability to frequently sit, walk, and stand, and to use hands to handle, grasp, and twist objects.
• Ability to frequently crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, and reach with hands and arms as part of daily tasks.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Reliability and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, day and night hours, and overtime as needed.
• Ability to work 810 hour shifts in a production warehouse environment with moderate noise and changing temperatures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating a forklift and/or reach truck is a plus but not required.
• GED, high school diploma, or equivalent education required.
• Technical degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Background in packaging, general labor, production, materials handling, picking, and packing is beneficial.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse environment with shifting priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a production warehouse environment on 2nd shift, typically starting at 3:30 p.m. and working until the shift is complete, Monday through Sunday. The position requires the ability to work 810 hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as assigned. The job involves frequent crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching with hands and arms, as well as lifting up to 50 pounds. The work setting has a moderate noise level and may involve exposure to changing temperatures. Equipment used includes electric pallet jacks and, for qualified individuals, reach trucks and forklifts, along with standard warehouse tools and computer systems for processing invoices and orders. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jessup, MD. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
