Job Title: Utility Laborer

Job Description

The Utility Laborer plays a key role in the extrusion department, supporting safe and efficient handling of aluminum products after extrusion. This position works closely with the Extrusion Supervisor and production team to tend extrusion lines, rack and pack materials, and move product using a sit-down forklift as needed. The role is physically demanding and requires attention to safety, accuracy, and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m then transfer to the night shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m with a pay increase.

Responsibilities

Support the extrusion department by safely handling aluminum product immediately following extrusion.
Tend extrusion lines to ensure continuous, efficient operation and proper product flow.
Rack, pack, and stage finished product according to production and shipping requirements.
Operate a sit-down forklift to move bins, materials, and finished product throughout the facility when needed.
Use a tape measure to verify product dimensions and ensure materials meet required specifications.
Perform general labor and production tasks such as lifting, carrying, stacking, and organizing materials.
Use hand tools as required for racking, packing, and basic material handling activities.
Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment while working in the plant.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production goals and respond to changing priorities.
Be available for overtime and additional shifts to support 24/7 coverage and increased production demands.

Essential Skills

Previous manufacturing or production experience in an industrial environment.
Experience as a laborer and comfort with physically demanding, heavy labor work.
Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for basic measurements and quality checks.
Sit-down forklift operating experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
Capability to perform repetitive lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Basic familiarity with general labor tasks, production processes, and packing operations.
Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
Strong focus on safety and willingness to follow all safety rules and procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experienced in manufacturing environments with exposure to production lines or extrusion processes.
Comfort working in areas with high noise levels and varying temperatures.
Willingness to work day and night shifts as needed, including long shifts (12 hours).
Flexibility to transition between different schedules, including a 4 days on / 4 days off rotation.
Reliability and punctuality to support continuous operations and overtime needs.
Interest in developing into higher-level operator roles over time.

Why Work Here?

Join a growing, safety-focused manufacturing operation that offers a close-knit, family-style environment and long-term career potential. The facility is expanding toward 24/7 coverage, creating opportunities to advance into higher-level operator roles. Employees can significantly increase their earnings through frequent overtime, and enjoy quarterly company barbecues and picnics that foster team connection. Long-term commitment is recognized through tenure bonuses at 3, 5, and 10 years, and the organization brings the stability of more than 40 years in business with hundreds of employees across multiple locations.

Work Environment

This role is based in an extrusion plant environment with responsibilities carried out both indoors and in production areas that are not climate controlled. The workspace can experience extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and other uncontrolled factors typical of heavy manufacturing. The Utility Laborer will initially work on the extrusion day shift, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on a temporary basis, with the possibility of a permanent transfer to the night shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The facility is moving toward a 4-by-4 schedule, with four days on and four days off, and frequent overtime opportunities are available, including the option to pick up additional days.
