Pay: $22 Shift: 2nd shiftJob DescriptionThe purpose of this role is to efficiently locate and stage material, set up, and operate saws to meet quality and production requirements. The operator will perform light maintenance and manage necessary paperwork to ensure smooth operations.Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saw machines to cut metal stock pieces to specified dimensions.
• Adjust speed/feed rate and tension of the blade using the machine controls.
• Install saw blade and set blade tension and cutting speed for specified operations.
• Set saw blade angle to achieve desired angle cuts using appropriate tools.
• Position and secure stock against stops or in feeding device.
• Start machine and monitor operation, ensuring coolant flow against cutting area.
• Replace defective cutting blade or wheel using hand tools.
• Mount pieces in holding devices and operate saws to cut along scribed or measured dimensions.
• Ensure safe and productive saw operation, safeguarding equipment from loss or damage.
• Verify dimensions of finished workpieces using measuring tools such as calipers and measuring tape.
• Operate overhead crane as required.
• Clean and perform light day-to-day maintenance on operated equipment.
• Notify Maintenance Technician of any needed maintenance or repairs and report any potential safety concerns to managers.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in production and saw operation.
• Ability to use tape measure and machine operation skills.
• Attention to detail, deburring, blueprint reading, and bandsaw operation.
• Experience in fabrication and grinding.
• Basic shop math skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Metal fabrication experience.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carol Stream, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
