Job Title: Mechanical AssemblerJob DescriptionThis role involves assembling large mechanical structures and components, including valves, coils, and other heavy-duty parts, within oversized modular units. You will work as part of a team in a station-based assembly environment, performing primarily mechanical assembly with some basic electrical tasks. The position requires consistent use of hand tools and machinery, accurate interpretation of technical documentation, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing setting.Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly of valves, coils, bus ducts, air handlers, cable trays, pipes, sheet metal, and other large structural mechanical parts within oversized modules built from structural tubes.
- Install mechanical components and subassemblies according to blueprints, bills of materials (BOM), P&IDs, and detailed work orders or work instructions.
- Complete approximately 90% mechanical assembly work and 10% basic electrical tasks as part of daily responsibilities.
- Carry out basic electrical assembly, including pulling wire, assisting with installation of bus bars, bus ducting, cable trays, and supporting conduit work as directed.
- Use hand tools such as drills, caulking guns, grinders, torque wrenches, levels, and measuring tapes to assemble and secure components safely and accurately.
- Operate machines such as large band saws, pipe bevellers, and magnetic drills to cut, prepare, and fit mechanical parts as required.
- Work in an assembly station environment rather than on a conveyor line, collaborating closely with team members to complete modules efficiently and to specification.
- Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, BOMs, P&IDs, and work instructions, and clearly communicate requirements and next steps to the team.
- Maintain a steady work pace in a repetitive, fast-paced production environment while meeting quality and safety standards.
- Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy, proper fit, and adherence to specifications, and make adjustments or corrections as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working around forklifts, overhead cranes, welders, and other industrial equipment.
- Contribute to a clean, organized work area by properly storing tools, materials, and equipment and promptly reporting any issues or hazards.
Essential Skills
- Proven mechanical assembly experience working with valves, coils, and large structural mechanical parts in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Experience in mass production or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Ability to perform approximately 90% mechanical and 10% basic electrical work as part of the role.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, bills of materials (BOM), P&IDs, and detailed work orders or work instructions.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as drills, caulking guns, grinders, torque wrenches, levels, and measuring tapes.
- Experience operating machines such as large band saws, pipe bevellers, and magnetic drills.
- Basic electrical experience, including pulling wire and assisting with conduit and related tasks.
- Comfort working in a repetitive, fast-paced production environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based assembly station environment, communicating clearly with coworkers and following instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety when working around heavy equipment, welders, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a mechanical assembler, mechanical technician, valve technician, or electro-mechanical assembler in an industrial or modular fabrication environment.
- Experience assembling large modules or skids for industrial, energy, or related sectors.
- Familiarity with mass production processes and continuous improvement practices in manufacturing.
- Comfort working alongside welders and other trades in a shared production space.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and relay technical documentation to team members.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills when fitting and aligning large structural components.
Why Work Here? You will join a production environment that offers consistent, hands-on work with large-scale mechanical systems and the opportunity to develop both mechanical and basic electrical skills. The team-focused structure encourages collaboration and shared problem-solving, allowing you to contribute directly to the completion of complex modular assemblies. Working in a high-volume manufacturing setting provides stable, predictable work and the chance to build expertise with industrial tools, equipment, and technical documentation, supporting long-term growth in mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly roles.Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing facility with concrete flooring and open bay doors, creating a non-climate-controlled environment where temperatures can vary with the weather. The production area is active and dynamic, with forklifts and overhead cranes moving materials and assemblies throughout the day. Work takes place at dedicated assembly stations rather than on a conveyor line, and you may work in close proximity to welders and other trades. You will regularly use industrial hand tools and machines such as drills, grinders, torque wrenches, large band saws, pipe bevellers, and magnetic drills. Appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial manufacturing setting is expected, including clothing and footwear that support safety and comfort around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
