Commercial Carpenter

Job Title: Commercial CarpenterJob DescriptionJoin our team as a Commercial Carpenter, where you'll engage in constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard. Utilize your hand tools and power tools while conforming to local building codes. This role requires you to study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to gather information about required materials and procedures, preparing layouts with precision tools such as rules, framing squares, and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for material requirements and construction procedures.
• Prepare layout using rules, framing squares, and calipers.
• Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials to prescribed measurements.
• Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Verify trueness of structure with plumb bob and level.
• Erect framework for structures and lay sub-flooring.
• Build stairs and lay out and install partitions and cabinetwork.
• Apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls.
• Responsible for production and quality of millwork, trim metal studs, drywall, and acoustic ceilings.
• Fit and install prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, and finish hardware.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
• Fit and nail sheathing on outer walls and roofs of buildings.
• Install door and window bucks in designated positions in building framework.
• Manage small special projects.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of carpentry experience is preferred.
• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
• Capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
• Must be able to stand or walk for long periods.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding measuring tools and levels.
