Job Title: Lead 5-Axis Mill ProgrammerJob DescriptionThe Lead 5-Axis Mill Programmer is responsible for driving the manufacturing strategy and programming for critical, high-precision components used in space, aviation, and cryogenic LNG systems. This role combines advanced hyperMILL and/or Mastercam programming with technical leadership on the shop floor, including setup and prove-out of parts. You will develop collision-free, simultaneous 5-axis toolpaths for complex, tight-tolerance parts on DN Solutions (Fanuc + Siemens) and Haas mills, setting the standard for how programs are built, verified, and proven out.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, simulate, and optimize 3-, 4-, and simultaneous 5-axis programs for DN Solutions and Haas mills using hyperMILL and/or Mastercam.
  • Program complex parts spanning industries such as aerospace, cryogenics, satellite components, and industrial applications.
  • Apply advanced toolpath strategies to optimize material removal rates while achieving tight tolerance requirements.
  • Design fixtures and workholding as needed for tight-tolerance machining of large or complex billet parts.
  • Select cutting tools, fixtures, feeds, and speeds for various materials including aluminum, bronze, steels, stainless steels, titanium, and super alloys.
  • Verify every program in machine simulation before first-article prove-outs on the shop floor, working directly on setups.
  • Mentor machinists on multi-axis techniques, setups, and G-code troubleshooting.
  • Set programming standards and review programs before they are released to the floor.
  • Work with production and quality to prioritize the programming queue.
  • Interpret and apply GD&T to meet flight-critical dimensions.
  • Keep documentation and processes compliant with AS9100 and applicable safety requirements.

Essential Skills

  • 7+ years of CNC programming experience, including at least 3 years of simultaneous 5-axis milling in aerospace, space, or high-pressure energy environments.
  • Advanced, hands-on proficiency in hyperMILL and/or Mastercam.
  • Experience programming and running DN Solutions (3-axis Fanuc, 5-axis Siemens) and Haas multi-axis machines and controls.
  • Strong command of GD&T and experience designing fixtures and workholding.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 quality processes.
