Job Title: CNC OperatorJob DescriptionThe CNC Operator will work in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment, loading raw materials into CNC mills and lathes and operating multiple machines at once to produce small metal components for major automotive brands. This role focuses on machine operation and part inspection rather than setup or tooling changes, and offers comprehensive on-the-job training in CNC processes and quality checks.
Responsibilities
- Load raw metal stock into CNC mills and lathes according to established procedures.
- Operate 46 CNC machines simultaneously within a dedicated machine cell, monitoring performance and production flow.
- Observe all machines continuously to ensure smooth operation and address basic issues as they arise.
- Perform visual inspection of parts after machining to identify defects or irregularities.
- Use quality instruments, after training, to verify that parts meet required quality specifications and tolerances.
- Handle and move parts weighing up to approximately 5 pounds, and occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Follow established safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area within the machine shop.
- Work assigned shifts and client-driven overtime, including every other Saturday as required.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding machine status, quality concerns, and production needs.
- Learn and apply new processes and procedures as training is provided on setups, tooling changes, and blueprint interpretation.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Consistent job tenure, typically 1 or more years in previous positions, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and processes.
- Strong attention to detail when monitoring machines and inspecting finished parts.
- Ability to lift and handle items up to 50 pounds safely.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for understanding machine operation and production workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience or exposure to CNC mills and lathes.
- Familiarity with CNC machine operation in an automotive or similar manufacturing environment.
- Experience with blueprint reading for manufactured parts.
- Exposure to machining, production, and machine shop environments.
- Ability to learn and use quality instruments and measurement tools after training.
Why Work Here?Employees join a close-knit, family-feel machine shop where teamwork, reliability, and a willingness to learn are valued. The environment offers hands-on training in CNC operations and quality processes, providing opportunities to grow technical skills over time. Team members benefit from a stable production setting with consistent hours and overtime opportunities, while working in a clean and well-organized facility that supports long-term career development in manufacturing. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a machine shop that produces small automotive parts in a high-volume production setting. The facility is organized into approximately 67 machine cells, each containing about 4 CNC machines, and operators typically work inside closed-off cells while running multiple machines at once. The shop floor is notably clean for an automotive environment, contributing to a safe and orderly workspace. The facility is not air-conditioned, so temperatures can become hot during warmer months, and employees should be comfortable working in these conditions. Work is performed on 1st shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.), or 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.), with client-driven overtime and an expectation of working every other Saturday.
