Responsibilities

  • Work at an individual workbench in an industrial shop setting to assemble and prepare electrical cables.
  • Strip cables by removing the rubber exterior, cutting away insulation with appropriate tools while wearing safety gloves, and installing contacts as specified.
  • Measure and cut cables to precise specifications, following detailed work instructions and customer order requirements.
  • Use hand tools and measuring devices such as rulers, tape measures, diagonal cutters, crimpers, and similar equipment to measure, cut, and mold materials as required.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with engineering blueprints, drawings, and written work instructions.
  • Conduct visual inspections of completed work to identify and correct defects before packaging or further processing.
  • Assist with packaging finished cable assemblies, including cutting cable from large reels to specified lengths and preparing them for shipment.
  • Handle cable reels received on large wheels, cutting them to required lengths (for example, 50 feet or 100 feet) and breaking down empty reels.
  • Move carts loaded with heavy cables, exerting physical effort as needed while following ergonomic guidelines.
  • Follow all safety rules, use required protective equipment, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Collaborate closely with team members, contributing to a highly team-oriented environment and supporting shared production goals.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and reliability to support a schedule that frequently includes overtime and extended work hours.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly to follow work instructions, safety guidelines, and engineering documentation.
  • Basic math skills, including comfort with decimal conversions (for example, converting 2 ½ inches to 2.5 inches) for accurate measurements.
  • Willingness to stand on your feet for approximately 8 hours per day while performing assembly tasks.
  • Sufficient physical capability to move carts with heavy cables and occasionally lift items up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and strong handeye coordination for wire stripping, cable assembly, and precise cutting and measuring.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed safety procedures and maintain professional conduct in a production environment.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, with a positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues in a highly collaborative setting.
  • Commitment to excellent attendance and reliability, including openness to working extended hours and overtime as needed.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools and industrial equipment in a manufacturing or production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a shop environment or performing mechanical or electrical assembly is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in production, manufacturing, or assembly roles, particularly involving cables or similar components, is a plus.
  • Comfort with heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks can help you excel in this role.
  • High attention to detail and careful workmanship to ensure accurate measurements, clean cable stripping, and defect-free assemblies.
  • Enjoyment of hands-on work and using tools regularly as part of your daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a steady-paced environment that can become busy at times while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Willingness to commit to a longer-term assignment, with the potential for full-time conversion based on performance.
