Job Title: Team Assembler / Assembly Technician Job DescriptionThis role focuses on assembling custom packaging machinery and conveyor systems from engineering drawings in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will build machines from the ground up, working with metal frames, mechanical components, pneumatic airlines, and basic wiring to deliver complete systems that meet detailed engineering and customer specifications. The position is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly experience, including recent Mechanical Engineering graduates who want to gain practical machine-building experience.Responsibilities
- Assemble custom packaging machinery and conveyor systems from engineering drawings and prints.
- Build machines from the ground up, including assembling metal frames and structural components.
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, and SolidWorks-generated prints to guide the build process.
- Install mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, shafts, cylinders, guarding, and safety components.
- Mount brackets, sensors, guides, and guards according to engineering and customer specifications.
- Run pneumatic airlines and perform basic machine wiring to integrate mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Complete full machine assemblies to meet customer requirements and engineering standards.
- Document project completion, maintain quality standards, and ensure assemblies meet internal and external specifications.
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to move components and finished machines safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout each project.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams while also working independently to complete assigned builds.
- Participate in troubleshooting and adjustments during assembly to ensure proper machine function.
- Handle production equipment, packaging components, and pneumatic tools as part of daily assembly tasks.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, or SolidWorks-generated prints.
- Hands-on experience assembling machinery, equipment, production lines, conveyors, or large mechanical systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools commonly used in mechanical assembly.
- Ability to install mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, sprockets, belts, shafts, cylinders, guarding, and safety devices.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a practical troubleshooting mindset.
- Ability to work independently and take a project from print to finished machine.
- Comfort working with pneumatic systems, including routing airlines and basic pneumatic connections.
- Experience with production, assembly, and packaging equipment in an industrial setting.
- Capability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
- Solid understanding of mechanical assembly practices and quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with SolidWorks drawings or other CAD software for print reading and interpretation.
- Experience in packaging machinery, conveyor systems, industrial machinery, or custom equipment assembly.
- Exposure to pneumatics and hydraulics in machine-building or maintenance environments.
- Knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance practices.
- Experience with fabrication, machine installation, and automation equipment assembly.
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical assembly and industrial maintenance.
- Mechanical Engineering education or recent Mechanical Engineering graduate status with strong hands-on experience.
- Experience in a machine shop or precision assembly environment.
- Experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments.
- Comfort working with electrical wiring and panel assembly at a basic level.
- Experience in conveyor assembly, manufacturing technician roles, or industrial production settings.
Why Work Here?Employees have the opportunity to work on highly customized machinery rather than repetitive assembly line production, allowing for greater variety and technical challenge. Team members build complete packaging systems from start to finish, gaining hands-on experience with mechanical, pneumatic, and automated systems. The environment supports the development of advanced mechanical and blueprint-reading skills, with exposure to engineering and machine design concepts. There are clear career growth opportunities for mechanically inclined individuals and engineering graduates, within a stable manufacturing organization known in the packaging equipment industry. The small, collaborative team structure ensures that contributions are visible, valued, and connected to projects that move from concept to finished machine.Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a manufacturing and machine-building environment focused on assembling large packaging machines and conveyor systems. Work involves frequent use of hand and power tools, standing for most of the workday, and regular lifting of components and machine parts. Team members are exposed to moving machinery, manufacturing noise, dust, and industrial equipment in a fast-paced, project-based setting with changing build requirements. The position combines independent work with collaboration alongside engineering and production teams. Physical requirements include frequent standing, walking, reaching, and handling of parts; regular lifting of 1025 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 60 lbs., with heavier lifts performed as a team; and the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in and around machinery.
