Job Title: Electromechanical AssemblerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on the electromechanical assembly and integration of complex systems, including mechanical structures, wiring and cabling, power supplies, PCBAs, motion components, and optical and sensor assemblies. You will build systems from engineering drawings and documentation, perform precise mechanical and electrical work, and support full system integration and power-on verification in a clean, controlled environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly of chassis, frames, brackets, optical mounts, linear slides, and precision motion stages according to engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Carry out wiring and cabling tasks, including point-to-point wiring, cable harness fabrication, routing, dressing, labeling, and connector termination based on electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Install and wire AC/DC power supplies, power distribution units (PDUs), and DC distribution components, and verify all voltages using a digital multimeter (DMM) before energizing systems.
- Install printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), motion controllers, and I/O modules while maintaining strict electrostatic discharge (ESD) compliance and making all required board-level connections.
- Install and align spindle and motion components, including stage assemblies, controllers, and associated amplifiers, ensuring precise mechanical and electrical alignment.
- Handle and install optical and sensor components such as laser modules, detector assemblies, and optical mounts with care and accuracy.
- Complete full system builds from subassemblies through final integration, and conduct system power-on, checkout, and buyoff activities.
- Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and precision assembly techniques to achieve consistent build quality and reliability.
- Follow documented procedures, drawings, and BOMs to ensure assemblies meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain a meticulous and safety-conscious approach while working in cleanroom manufacturing, lab, and office environments.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of hands-on electromechanical assembly experience, ideally with capital equipment, scientific instruments, or test and measurement systems.
- Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Proficiency in cable fabrication, including crimping, soldering, and multi-connector termination.
- Experience installing PCBAs and related electronics with strong ESD handling discipline.
- Competence using a digital multimeter (DMM), torque wrenches, and standard hand tools for precision assembly work.
- Strong mechanical assembly skills using both hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to follow detailed technical documentation and work instructions accurately.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to both mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience assembling capital equipment, scientific instruments, or test and measurement devices is highly desirable.
- Background in both mechanical and electrical assembly environments.
- Familiarity with production and manufacturing workflows in a cleanroom or laboratory setting.
- Comfort working with optical components, laser modules, and sensor assemblies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams to resolve build issues.
Why Work Here? You will join a technically challenging environment where craftsmanship and precision are highly valued, and where your electromechanical expertise directly contributes to building advanced systems. The organization promotes a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement, offering the opportunity to deepen your skills in cleanroom, lab, and production settings while working with cutting-edge technologies. You will work alongside experienced professionals who appreciate attention to detail and support knowledge sharing, professional growth, and pride in building complex, high-performance equipment. Work EnvironmentYou will work across cleanroom manufacturing, laboratory, and office environments, handling sensitive mechanical, electrical, and optical components. The role involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, digital multimeters, and other precision assembly equipment. You will work from detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs, following established procedures and standards to maintain product quality and safety. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, ESD-safe practices, and careful handling of components, requiring a meticulous and organized approach throughout daily activities.
