The successful candidate will have strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit, mechanical drafting, and shop drawing development, with the ability to translate engineering markups and redlines into accurate, coordinated construction documents. This individual will work independently under the direction of mechanical engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to support project delivery. This position offers the flexibility of a remote work schedule and can be based from a variety of locations in the US where AECOM has an office. Although the position is primarily remote periodic travel may be required for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other business‑critical activities. Travel is expected to be occasional and scheduled in advance. AECOM is a leader in the global data center consulting industry with robust teams in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with our teams around the world on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for global clients. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with an opportunity for upward career mobility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain mechanical BIM models and construction documentation using Autodesk Revit and other applicable BIM/CAD software.
  • Prepare mechanical plans, sections, schedules, details, and related drawings based on engineering markups, redlines, design documents, and technical direction.

  • Perform model coordination with other building disciplines, including electrical, structural, architectural, and plumbing systems.
  • Identify, document, and assist in resolving model clashes, interferences, and constructability issues.
  • Interpret engineering design intent and translate technical information into accurate, coordinated BIM models and drawings.
  • Work independently on assigned drafting and modeling tasks while collaborating with mechanical engineers and project team members to resolve technical questions.
  • Maintain model accuracy, drawing quality, and compliance with project standards, established BIM protocols, and documentation requirements.
  • Support project teams throughout the design and construction documentation process, incorporating revisions and updates as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience; associate’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of relevant experience; or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. An engineering degree is not required.
  • Strong experience with Autodesk Revit and BIM/CAD tools used for mechanical engineering design and building systems applications.
  • Experience with mechanical drafting, construction documentation, and shop drawings.
  • Ability to develop mechanical plans, sections, schedules, and details from engineering markups, redlines, and design direction.
  • Experience with BIM model coordination, clash detection, and identification of interferences between building systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation and apply engineering direction to assigned modeling and drafting tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, manage assigned deliverables, and collaborate effectively with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, or other technically complex building projects.
  • Experience working for a general contractor, mechanical contractor, or other construction-focused organization.
  • Familiarity with construction sequencing, installation requirements, constructability reviews, and field coordination.
