Original job description

At Advantic Building Group, we design, fabricate, and install innovative structural solutions using Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP), helping customers build smarter, safer, and more efficient infrastructure across mission-critical and industrial environments.

We're looking for an Assistant Site Manager to help lead field operations on data center construction projects throughout the United States. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional who enjoys working in the field, leading crews, solving problems, and growing into increased leadership responsibilities.

You'll work alongside experienced leaders, gain exposure to complex mission-critical construction projects, and play a key role in delivering projects safely, on schedule, and to the high-quality standards our clients expect.

Role Summary

Field Leadership & Execution

Support the Site Manager in leading daily construction operations on active project sites
Lead by example and hold crews and subcontractors accountable to Advantic's standards for safety, quality, and performance
Direct field crews, foremen, subcontractors, and assigned work areas
Monitor productivity, workmanship, and schedule performance
Conduct routine site walks to identify and resolve issues before they impact project delivery
Serve as acting site leader when the Site Manager is unavailable
Coach and develop team members while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Project Coordination & Scheduling

Partner with Project Managers and Site Managers to execute project schedules and overall project execution plans
Coordinate manpower, equipment, material deliveries, laydown areas, site logistics, and work sequencing
Maintain and communicate short-term look-ahead schedules
Manage subcontractor activities and resolve field conflicts
Participate in coordination meetings involving trades, MEP contractors, commissioning teams, and vendors

Quality & Project Documentation

Perform field quality inspections and support punch list completion
Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals while identifying discrepancies, constructability concerns, and field conflicts for timely resolution
Maintain accurate daily reports, labor tracking, and project documentation
Communicate project status, risks, and field issues to project leadership
Support monthly reporting related to schedule, quality, safety, and project performance

Safety Leadership

Promote and enforce Advantic's safety culture and OSHA compliance standards
Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and pre-task planning activities
Identify hazards and take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions
Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or work practices are observed
Support on-site safety personnel and reinforce safe work practices with crews and subcontractors

Project Closeout & Development

Support commissioning, startup, turnover, owner acceptance, and project closeout activities
Assist with training team members on company systems and technology
Participate in structured development opportunities designed to prepare you for future Site Manager responsibilities

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
Minimum 3 years of progressive construction field leadership experience
Prior experience as a Foreman, Lead, Assistant Superintendent, or similar field leadership role
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Valid driver's license
Ability and willingness to travel extensively to project sites across the United States
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and Word

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, manufacturing, or large commercial construction projects, including coordination of MEP systems and subcontractors
Additional certifications such as First Aid/CPR, Competent Person, Rigging, or related safety credentials
Experience with construction management platforms such as:
Procore
Primavera P6
Bluebeam
Touchplan
BIM360
Microsoft Project
