POSITION REQUIREMENT SUMMARY:
Advanced Motion Controls (AMC) is seeking a detail-oriented and quality-focused Electronics Assembler – Conformal Coating Specialist 1 to support the production of high-reliability electronic assemblies. This position is responsible for learning and performing the preparation, masking, conformal coating, curing, inspection, touch-up, and processing of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and electronic products in accordance with established manufacturing procedures and industry standards.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong process discipline, and the ability to consistently meet quality and throughput expectations while maintaining accurate production records in a controlled manufacturing environment.
Level 1 employees develop proficiency in routine conformal coating operations through training and qualification. After qualification, they perform assigned routine tasks with moderate supervision and established work instructions. They seek guidance for unfamiliar work, process exceptions, and coating defects. Independent responsibility for the full standard coating process, setup verification, troubleshooting, moderate rework, and training support is associated with Level 2.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Perform conformal coating and electronics assembly activities in support of production requirements, including:
Conformal Coating Operations:
- Prepare electronic assemblies for conformal coating using approved work instructions and within the scope of completed training and qualification.
- Apply masking materials to designated areas requiring protection from coating and verify masking accuracy before processing.
- Perform assigned routine conformal coating operations using approved chemicals, methods and equipment after training and qualification; obtain guidance for unfamiliar operations or process exceptions.
- Load and unload curing equipment following established procedures and training.
- Remove masking materials after curing operations.
- Perform basic touch-up activities only as trained and authorized; refer work requiring troubleshooting or moderate rework to the Lead, Level 2 specialist, or other designated qualified personnel.
- Maintain work area cleanliness and organization and follow all process instructions and workmanship standards.
Material Handling & Product Control:
- Maintain product identification and traceability.
- Handle materials in accordance with ESD and contamination-control requirements.
- Move product through production flow according to established procedures.
- Support FIFO inventory practices.
- Verify work order information before beginning work.
Documentation & Data Entry:
- Accurately record production activities, quantities completed, scrap, rework, and labor transactions within the company ERP system.
- Complete required production documentation and maintain traceability records.
- Review work instructions and process documentation before performing assigned operations.
Quality & Process Compliance:
- Follow applicable IPC, ESD, ISO, safety, and internal company manufacturing standards.
- Perform routine self-inspection of assigned work using established acceptance criteria and inspection equipment, including UV equipment or magnification, as trained.
- Follow applicable IPC-A-610, IPC-CC-830, and company conformal coating requirements.
- Report coating defects, uncertain acceptance conditions, and other quality concerns to Leads, Quality, or Supervisors for direction.
- Support corrective actions by following assigned instructions and approved process changes.
Production Performance:
- Meet established daily, weekly, and monthly production throughput expectations for assigned qualified operations while maintaining required quality levels.
- Support production schedules and departmental priorities.
- Participate in assigned training and cross-training opportunities to develop proficiency in standard operations.
- Assist in electronics assembly and other cross-functional manufacturing activities as workload requirements dictate and within completed training and qualification.
- Perform additional duties and assignments including working in other departments such as SMT, 2nd Ops, mechanical, test, and final as needed.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in electronics manufacturing, conformal coating, assembly, or related production environment.
- Experience following detailed work instructions and manufacturing procedures.
- Basic understanding of electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards.
- Ability to accurately perform production data entry and transaction processing within computerized systems.
- Basic computer skills including data entry, navigation of ERP/MES systems, and viewing electronic work instructions.
