Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring Systems Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Define products, develop solutions, assess root causes, and produce solution resolutions. Debug issues found during the SoC programs bring-up, validation, and production phases. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

• Developing and implementing automation;
• Performing hardware verification;
• Programming in Python, C, or C++;
• Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL;
• Logic and circuit design;
• CPU, GPU, or SoC architecture;
• ASIC design and tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis);
• Embedded driver development; and
• Unix or Linux environments.

Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
