High-Speed Signal Integrity Engineer
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Signal Integrity Engineer to join our Server Platform Signal and Power Integrity (SIPI) team. As a member of AMD's Server Platform organization, you will contribute to the development of next-generation server and AI platforms by supporting high-speed interface design, simulation, validation, and analysis. You will work alongside experienced engineers to ensure robust signal integrity performance across industry-leading technologies and products.
The Systems Design Engineering team fosters technical innovation, continuous learning, and career growth while driving AMD's commitment to delivering high-quality, high-performance solutions to market.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is passionate about high-speed digital design, electromagnetic fundamentals, and system-level engineering. You are eager to learn, detail-oriented, and capable of working effectively in a collaborative cross-functional environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a desire to develop expertise in signal integrity, are critical for success in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support signal integrity analysis and validation for high-speed interfaces, including DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, and other serial and parallel communication channels.
- Perform pre-silicon and post-silicon SI simulations, measurements, and correlation activities for server and accelerator platforms.
- Analyze channel performance using S-parameter models, time-domain and frequency-domain simulation techniques.
- Assist in system bring-up, debug, characterization, and validation of platform-level electrical designs.
- Collaborate with package, silicon, platform, layout, validation, and firmware teams to identify and resolve electrical performance issues.
- Develop scripts, automation flows, and methodologies to improve simulation efficiency, data analysis, and validation workflows.
- Document analysis results, debug findings, and best-known methods (BKMs) to support engineering execution and continuous improvement.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Fundamental understanding of signal integrity, transmission lines, electromagnetic theory, and high-speed digital design concepts.
- Familiarity with SI simulation and analysis tools such as Cadence Sigrity, Ansys HFSS, Ansys SIwave, Keysight ADS, or equivalent tools.
- Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, Perl, or C++.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and high-speed communication protocols such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, USB, or similar technologies.
- Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers (VNA), TDRs, and spectrum analyzers is a plus.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global engineering teams.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electromagnetics, or a related technical field.
- Coursework or academic projects involving signal integrity, high-speed circuits, RF/microwave engineering, electromagnetics, or communication systems are highly desirable.
LOCATION:
- Santa Clara, CA.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
