Original job description
ADP is hiring a Senior Director, Procurement- Software.
As a Senior Director, Procurement, you will lead a team of contract managers and be responsible for developing and managing a wide variety of complex third-party partnerships and major vendor relationships, both domestic and international, in support of strategic products, services, software, and other initiatives. Directly and through your team, you'll source, negotiate commercial and legal terms, draft, close, and manage complex arrangements to secure the necessary relationships and technology for current and future needs across global markets. Your contract managers will in turn oversee the Software Procurement team, so you will be accountable for the full software buying cycle, from purchase request to signed contract. You will also be responsible for reviewing the current end-to-end software lifecycle process and recommending future improvements that align with broader organizational initiatives and partner-driven enhancements. You will also lead the Procurement side of ADP's Software Asset Management (SAM) function and manage the team that delivers it. Your team will keep a real-time inventory of all software licenses and SaaS subscriptions. They will also track usage against entitlements, so ADP avoids over-usage and saves money on unused licenses. You will drive more automation between software purchases and ADP's SAM tool (ServiceNow), and better integration with tools such as Ariba. Your team will work with IT to define who owns each license and will provide the software data needed for vendor negotiations. You will also own audit readiness, covering both planned audits, such as usage declarations, and unplanned vendor audits. You will also lead the buyer team, which creates purchase requests for new software and for maintenance and subscription renewals, working with the assigned contract manager. You will drive the team to find savings and negotiate pricing, using pricing history to keep renewal costs low. The team also tracks purchase requests and purchase orders with the different teams. In addition, the team reviews the terms and conditions of open-source software requests to identify any license obligations or restrictions before use is approved. Finally, you will build closer collaboration with contract managers to reduce their workload and move the team toward higher-value work.
In this role, you will advise and provide consultative support to senior and executive management regarding areas such as preserving ADP’s business flexibility, maximizing ADP’s leverage and benefits, and negotiating strategic partner and vendor transactions. Additionally, you’ll stay informed about business, technology, industry benchmark and legal developments, ensure that vendors are financially stable, and proactively respond to trends and developments to capitalize on opportunities and avoid adverse business impacts.
Responsibilities:
Here’s what you can expect on a typical day:
- Lead commercial negotiations for SaaS, cloud, AI, data, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise software agreements with strategic technology providers.
- Develop and execute software portfolio optimization strategies that reduce total cost of ownership, eliminate redundant applications, improve utilization, and maximize vendor leverage.
- Lead sourcing initiatives, conduct market benchmarking, and drive commercial negotiations.
- Draft, negotiate, and close a wide variety of complex agreements and transactions with ADP's strategic business partners and major vendors across domestic and international markets to achieve technology and product/service initiatives, secure long-term relationships, and realize ADP's financial goals while minimizing risk and exposure.
- Advise a team of managers and negotiators, providing guidance and support to staff in contract negotiations and implementation.
- Manage strategic business partner and major vendor relationships to ensure ADP achieves its strategic product/service and financial and operational initiatives. Interface with stakeholders to ensure contract requirements are met. Develop and implement contract policies and procedures.
- Track and analyze data to identify trends, define future strategy and improve processes.
- Ensure compliance with domestic and international laws, regulations, and internal policies related to contracts. Collaborate with legal and finance teams to mitigate risks associated with contracts across multiple jurisdictions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on software investment strategy, vendor risk, commercial optimization, technology sourcing decisions, and long-term partner relationships.
- Manage the contract process as ADP acquires new companies.
- Lead the Procurement side of ADP's Software Asset Management (SAM) function, partnering with IT, Finance and Security teams to establish software governance, optimize spend, support technology rationalization initiatives, and improve software lifecycle management.
- Lead the buyers team responsible for purchase requests for new software and renewals, driving savings, pricing negotiations, and purchase order tracking with the Ariba and Tririga teams.
- Oversee the review of terms and conditions for open-source software requests to identify license obligations and restrictions before use is approved.
