Original job description

ADP is hiring a Principal Application Developer - React, Node.js & Application Security

Are you empathetic to client needs and inspired by transformation that impacts the lives of millions of people every day?
Are you looking to join a dynamic, inclusive team with a culture of collaboration and belonging?

This may be the role for you. Ready to design what's next?

About the Role

As a Principal Application Developer, you will work within a scrum team to bring designs and ideas to life for new and improved web applications supporting both internal and external clients. You will partner with clients, product managers, architects, and software engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement solutions for companies ranging from one employee to millions.

You will develop frontend and backend services in NodeJS and React, and be responsible for performance tuning, both on code and database levels. You will support production software operations, and test and debug programs. You will develop and extend CI and CD pipeline, and design and maintain automated monitoring, alerting and reporting systems. You report progress and status of assigned tasks to project teams and managers. You will build responsible applications using ReactJS.

Your day begins with a scrum call to prioritize and track work. Within your team, you will select user stories for each sprint and spend most of your time developing and testing code. Every three weeks, you will take part in release activities.

You will have a hands-on role designing, developing, debugging, and deploying software, applying your expertise to complex code challenges. You will also mentor junior developers and balance the assignment of user stories based on priorities and each developer's technical interests. Our best developers are enthusiastic creators who embrace stretch assignments and continually apply new technologies to their products. The pace is fast, and we still find time for a healthy dose of fun.

What You'll Do

Work in an Agile team. Start each day with a scrum to align on responsibilities, surface issues, and communicate coding priorities. Participate in sprint ceremonies, including demos where you present your work to as many as 90 stakeholders.
Build teams that thrive. Check in with your engineering team daily to identify priorities and challenges, share knowledge, mentor junior developers, and keep everyone engaged and productive.
Build high-quality products. Review your team's work and help engineers excel. Be proactive and hands-on, follow issues through to resolution, and deliver polished, finished products.
Secure and observe our applications. Analyze and resolve security vulnerabilities across NextGen applications and use Splunk and Dynatrace to investigate and diagnose issues in code.
Automate and build tools. Create automation and tooling that helps teams across the organization work faster and more reliably.
Embrace variety. One day you may meet with a team in India, review quarterly initiatives with leadership, and handle ad hoc requests from peers in other departments.
Influence and inspire confidence. Present to senior leaders, product owners, and peers with executive presence. Explain technical problems clearly to internal and external stakeholders and communicate milestone achievements concisely.
