Job Title: Software DeveloperJob DescriptionThis Software Developer role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and integrating modern software solutions into complex hardware and naval systems, with a strong emphasis on containerized applications and Kubernetes-based orchestration. • Design, develop, test, and integrate software solutions into customer hardware platforms and larger naval systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Lead efforts in building containerized applications, deploying them to Kubernetes environments, and managing container orchestration to support composable disaggregated infrastructure (CDI) objectives.
• Collaborate closely with a small, agile team of engineers to solve complex technical challenges, contributing creative and efficient solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for integrating custom-developed software into customer enterprise hardware environments, ensuring smooth deployment and interoperability.
• Apply cutting-edge development practices and innovative approaches to rapidly deliver solutions that push the boundaries of composable infrastructure systems.
• Work collaboratively with equipment designers, hardware engineers, systems analysts, and other technical professionals to plan, design, and integrate software solutions into broader system architectures.
• Create and maintain thorough documentation of software designs, changes, and integrations to enhance system maintainability and support future development and troubleshooting.
• Support software deployment activities, including configuration, installation, and operational troubleshooting, to ensure successful rollout and ongoing stability.
• Monitor software installations and system performance, proactively identify issues, and troubleshoot to ensure all system components function as specified.
• Participate in continuous improvement of development, integration, and CI/CD processes to increase efficiency, reliability, and quality of delivered solutions.

Essential Skills

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 24 years of relevant experience, or a Masters degree with 02 years of experience, or 810 years of directly relevant experience in lieu of a degree for highly qualified candidates.
• Demonstrated end-to-end software development experience, including requirements analysis, programming, testing, and integration of software into larger systems.
• Practical, hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying and managing containerized applications in production or complex environments.
• Strong proficiency with container technologies such as Docker and Docker containers, including building, configuring, and maintaining container images.
• Solid understanding of containerized environments, microservices architecture, and orchestration concepts, particularly in the context of composable infrastructure.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and associated tooling to automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
• Ability to perform software integration and troubleshoot issues across hardware, software, and system interfaces.
• Comfort working in a small engineering team environment, collaborating closely with approximately three engineers to deliver joint outcomes.
• Must be local to the Northern Virginia area and able to travel to team facilities in Manassas and Chantilly as required (approximately 10% travel).
• Active Department of Defense Secret level security clearance.

Work EnvironmentThis role operates primarily in a remote work environment, providing flexibility while still maintaining close collaboration with a small, agile engineering team. The position requires the candidate to be based in the Northern Virginia area, with occasional on-site visits (approximately 10% travel) to team facilities in Manassas and Chantilly for testing and integration activities. On-site work is infrequent and typically focused on system testing and validation within secure, professional facilities.
