The Safety Coordinator spends significant time in the field observing work activities, identifying hazards, supporting safety documentation and training, and helping ensure employees follow company, client, and applicable OSHA safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine jobsite safety walks and inspections alongside project and safety leadership to monitor field conditions and work practices.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors in the field and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate field supervision.
  • Assist with the development and review of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and pre-task plans to ensure tasks are planned and executed safely.
  • Support safety requirements associated with electrical construction activities, including electrical hazards and energized work, lockout/tagout (LOTO), temporary power, arc-flash awareness, fall protection, ladder and scaffold safety, material handling and lifting, and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance.
  • Assist with new-hire and site-specific safety orientations to ensure employees understand project-specific safety expectations and procedures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, pre-task planning sessions, and daily safety meetings to reinforce safe work practices and encourage open communication about safety.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection reports, training records, and corrective-action logs, in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • Assist with incident and near-miss documentation and investigations under the direction of safety leadership, helping to identify root causes and preventive actions.
  • Follow up with field teams to help ensure identified hazards are corrected and corrective actions are completed and documented.
  • Help track required employee training and certifications to ensure workers remain current with safety requirements.
  • Assist Safety Managers and field leadership with project-specific safety plans and client safety requirements, ensuring alignment with regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Develop positive working relationships with electricians, foremen, superintendents, project management, subcontractors, and client safety representatives to promote a collaborative safety culture.
  • Participate in ongoing safety training and professional development to build knowledge of OSHA regulations, electrical safety, and construction safety best practices.

  • Exposure to NFPA 70E or electrical-safety practices, particularly in energized work and arc-flash awareness.
  • Ability to identify hazards in an active construction environment and communicate effectively with field supervision and project teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a high volume of people and diverse personalities on large, complex projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
