Job Title: Planner, Nuclear Level 4 (Lead)Job DescriptionThis role serves as a Senior Nuclear Work Planner responsible for developing detailed work orders, preventive maintenance plans, and implementation-ready work packages for a nuclear power generation facility. The planner works closely with station personnel across engineering, maintenance, operations, supply chain, and other stakeholders to define job scope, identify required parts and materials, establish appropriate work standards, and ensure all work packages are prepared for safe, compliant, and efficient field execution. The position supports multidisciplinary work across mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation and controls systems, including preventive and corrective maintenance, surveillance activities, plant modifications, and design changes.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyze work-order tasks required to implement preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, plant modifications, design changes, surveillance activities, and testing.
  • Develop complete, implementation-ready work packages for nuclear station activities, ensuring they are accurate, clear, and executable in the field.
  • Determine and apply appropriate work standards, procedures, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements for each work package.
  • Coordinate closely with station personnel to validate job scope, work sequencing, equipment conditions, and field-execution requirements before work begins.
  • Identify required tools, parts, materials, replacement components, and supporting resources needed to execute planned work safely and efficiently.
  • Initiate or support the ordering and tracking of parts and materials required to execute planned work, working with supply chain and other support functions.
  • Create work packages across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, civil and structural, electrical, and instrumentation and controls, ensuring discipline-specific requirements are addressed.
  • Develop weld data sheets in accordance with applicable code requirements and station procedures, and integrate these into work packages as needed.
  • Incorporate applicable engineering requirements, design-change documentation, safety controls, and quality requirements into work packages to ensure regulatory and procedural compliance.
  • Identify potential work constraints, prerequisites, hazards, system conflicts, and coordination needs prior to execution, and address them in the planning phase.
  • Conduct constructability and field-readiness reviews of work packages to confirm they can be executed safely and efficiently in the plant environment.
  • Review work packages for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with station requirements and nuclear work-control processes.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and planning support to junior system planners, helping them develop detailed elements of overall work packages.
  • Support revisions to work packages and respond to field questions during implementation to resolve issues and maintain work quality and schedule.
  • Apply nuclear maintenance and work-control planning practices, including the use of NAMS and other station systems, to manage and track work activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and other stakeholders to continuously improve planning quality, work execution efficiency, and plant reliability.
