Job Title: Piping DesignerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on designing medium to complex mechanical and piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools with minimal supervision. You will develop complete design packages for industrial and power generation facilities, including piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and detailed drawings, while working closely with engineers and other disciplines. The position offers strong growth potential, with opportunities to progress into design supervisor or manager roles as the organization continues to expand.Responsibilities
- Design medium to complex mechanical and piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
- Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement (GA) drawings, equipment plans, piping orthographic drawings, and piping isometric drawings based on project specifications and engineering input.
- Interpret and apply project specifications, written and verbal instructions, and discipline-specific requirements to produce accurate and constructible design deliverables.
- Collaborate with engineers to understand pump suction requirements and incorporate proper design practices into piping layouts.
- Design and route industrial piping systems, including air and water headers, HDPE and underground piping, and systems for power generation and energy facilities.
- Physically route piping in 3D models, ensuring appropriate clearances, maintainability, constructability, and integration with other disciplines.
- Develop and design pipe support systems appropriate for powerplant and industrial applications, including consideration of loads, routing, and equipment connections.
- Review and use vendor and supplier documents, such as equipment drawings and data sheets, to ensure mechanical and piping designs are accurate and coordinated.
- Perform checking of drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards and codes.
- Assist in coordinating mechanical and piping design activities with other discipline groups, including structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams, to ensure fully integrated designs.
- Support the engineers design development process by providing design input, addressing comments, and updating drawings and models as required.
- Incorporate industrial piping systems such as steam, gas compressor connections, pressurized air, condensate systems, and other balance-of-plant (BOP) systems into overall plant layouts.
- Participate in design reviews and respond to design-related questions regarding pump suction, tapping of air and water headers, and underground or HDPE piping.
- Maintain design documentation and drawing files in accordance with project procedures and company standards.
