Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob DescriptionJoin our team as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in supporting engineering and field teams through the reverse engineering of generator components. You will be responsible for creating specialized tooling, maintaining design records, and performing quality control checks. Your work will contribute to the improvement of products, parts, tooling, and equipment, supporting a dynamic and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

• Support Engineering and field teams in reverse engineering of generator components using precise measurement gauges such as micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges.
• Create and design specialized tooling to enhance engineering processes.
• Maintain comprehensive design records and files, including drawings and bills of materials, for completed engineering work.
• Perform quality control checks on all incoming parts received from suppliers to ensure they meet engineering standards.
• Assist on-site Generator Specialists by providing new parts and tooling as required, which may involve traveling to project sites.
• Collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure parts are manufactured according to engineering specifications.
• Propose improvements for products, parts, tooling, and equipment to optimize performance and efficiency.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Expert use of precise measurement equipment, including calipers and micrometers.
• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or Mechanical Design.
• Ability to conduct reverse engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong preference for experience in robotics.

Work EnvironmentThe position operates on a single shift from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional weekend work during critical periods. The company consists of approximately 75 employees, with 8 to 10 in the Engineering department. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Amsterdam, NY. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.06 - $38.46/hr.
