This role supports efficient production by combining strong materials knowledge, analytical skills, and leadership to optimize material usage, inventory levels, and overall plant performance.

Responsibilities

Understand and track all materials entering the plant and determine which products and processes they support.

Support manufacturing operations, preferably within an industrial manufacturing environment, to ensure material availability and quality.
Conduct failure analysis on materials and components to identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Forecast material demand based on production plans, historical data, and business needs to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
Manage inventory levels by monitoring stock, usage, and lead times, and by recommending adjustments to purchasing and stocking strategies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in production, engineering, and supply chain to resolve material-related issues and improve processes.
Provide leadership within the materials function, guiding team members and influencing best practices in materials management.
Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities related to materials, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Respond effectively to material-related problems on the shop floor, demonstrating resilience and strong problem-solving abilities.

Hands-on experience with materials requirement planning (MRP) processes.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably industrial manufacturing.
Proficiency with ERP systems used for materials and production planning.
Demonstrated leadership experience within a technical or manufacturing setting.
Experience performing failure analysis on materials and components.
Skills in forecasting material demand and planning inventory needs.
Practical experience in inventory management within a manufacturing context.
High resilience in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong problem-solving abilities to address complex material and production challenges.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
