The position offers significant ownership, direct customer interaction, and the opportunity to help build and shape a growing engineering and manufacturing organization.Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary sustaining engineering resource for assigned customer programs and product lines.
- Maintain technical ownership of products throughout the entire lifecycle, from introduction through end-of-life.
- Review and interpret schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation to support ongoing production and changes.
- Support and drive product improvements related to quality, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and supply continuity.
- Research historical product records, engineering documentation, and prior program decisions to understand context and resolve current technical challenges.
- Lead the technical review and implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Assess the impact of engineering changes on product performance, manufacturability, quality, inventory, and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate, revision-controlled documentation including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and engineering records.
- Coordinate engineering changes across customers, suppliers, and global manufacturing sites to ensure smooth implementation.
- Evaluate alternate components and materials for form, fit, function, reliability, and lifecycle suitability, including component obsolescence and lifecycle management activities.
- Collaborate with supply chain, suppliers, and customers to identify, qualify, and approve replacement components.
- Support supply continuity and cost reduction initiatives by recommending alternate sourcing and design-for-cost improvements.
- Lead and support technical troubleshooting and root cause investigations for product, manufacturing, quality, and customer-related issues.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems at the component, board, and system levels using structured analysis and test data.
- Analyze failure data, test results, and manufacturing information to determine root causes and contributing factors.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions through closure, ensuring issues do not recur and documenting lessons learned.
- Act as a technical liaison between the engineering organization and assigned customers, providing clear, timely communication.
- Support customer requests related to engineering changes, technical concerns, manufacturability, and component substitutions.
- Build strong customer relationships through responsiveness, technical expertise, and reliable follow-through.
- Provide engineering support to global manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams, including facilities in multiple countries.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, reliability, manufacturability, delivery, and cost performance.
- Identify recurring issues, develop sustainable corrective actions, and implement standard work where appropriate.
- Contribute to the standardization of engineering practices, documentation, and technical processes across the organization.
- Use Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems to support engineering changes, BOM updates, and work order routing.
- Create, review, and support work order routers to ensure accurate manufacturing instructions and process flow.
