- Evaluate, interpret, and resolve systems engineering problems to ensure designs meet defined requirements and performance standards.
- Perform detailed design of electric energy storage, electric power conditioning, AC and DC distribution, and analog and digital control systems for electromechanical rotating machinery in the tens of megawatts range.
- Develop innovative yet practical solutions to complex technical problems in power engineering and power electronics.
- Address complex technical and manufacturing issues during the build of electromechanical launch and arresting systems and their sub-systems.
- Create, re-draw, and update electrical and system drawings using established engineering change processes and tools.
- Participate in internal and external technical project and program reviews, including preliminary and critical/detailed design reviews, to verify that designs meet product and system requirements.
- Prepare and review documented design inputs for electrical design and identify component obsolescence to support continuous operation of advanced power systems.
- Troubleshoot conflicting design and development requirements, challenging coordination requirements, and special material requirements to maintain design integrity and manufacturability.
- Review requirement matrices and statements of work to generate bases of estimate in support of customer proposals and project planning.
- Develop plans and procedures for systems qualification testing and factory acceptance testing, applying sound engineering and scientific principles.
- Present technical reports at engineering meetings, participate in program reviews, and provide expert consultation on technical issues.
- Organize work assignments effectively to meet established schedules and project milestones while maintaining high technical quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams while also working independently to drive projects to completion.

Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree, masters degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, typically with four or more years of progressive engineering experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years with a masters degree; equivalent engineering experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Hands-on experience in planning, designing, fabricating, and testing advanced electric power inverters and power systems.
- Experience with analog and digital control systems and embedded control systems for power and electromechanical applications.
- Thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, with demonstrated broad application in power systems and related technical areas.
- Ability to quickly understand new concepts and apply them accurately in a dynamic, evolving environment.
