Civil Project Manager | Land & Site DevelopmentThe Opportunity
If you enjoy owning civil projects from initial design through construction but still want to stay involved technically, this is a great opportunity to do both.
Were looking for an experienced Civil Project Manager / Professional Engineer / Engineer in Training "EIT" who can take the lead on land and site development projects involving grading, stormwater, water, sewer, drainage, and utilities.
This isnt a role where youll simply hand the technical work off and manage spreadsheets. Youll have the opportunity to stay close to the engineering, work directly with clients, guide projects through permitting, and help lead the team responsible for getting projects across the finish line.
What Youll Be Doing
Youll have ownership throughout the project lifecycle, including:
- Leading civil/site development projects from planning and design through permitting and construction
- Developing site designs involving grading, storm drainage, water, sewer, and utilities
- Using AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop and refine designs
- Preparing grading plans, drainage reports, engineering calculations, and construction documents
- Leading permitting and coordinating with local and state regulatory agencies
- Preparing technical specifications and bid documents
- Managing project scope, schedule, budget, and quality
- Working directly with clients, contractors, engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Supporting construction through site visits, field observations, and contractor coordination
- Helping guide engineers and designers while maintaining ownership of overall project execution
- Identifying design challenges early and developing practical solutions
What We're Looking For
The strongest fit will have:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) looking toward advance to PE license
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Approximately 8+ years of civil engineering/design experience
- Strong understanding in land development and site development
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience designing:
- Grading
- Storm drainage
- Water systems
- Sanitary sewer
- Site utilities
- Working knowledge of stormwater hydraulics and hydrology
- Experience preparing construction plans, drainage reports, specifications, and bid documents
- Experience navigating the permitting and regulatory approval process
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Confidence communicating directly with clients, contractors, and reviewing agencies
What Will Make You Stand Out
Wed especially like to talk with engineers who have progressed along a path similar to:
Civil 3D / Site Design Grading, Drainage & Utilities Permitting Client Interaction Project & Team Ownership
You dont need to be someone who wants to step completely away from engineering. This opportunity is particularly well suited for someone who enjoys leading projects while remaining technically involved.
What the Environment Looks Like
This is an on-site, collaborative engineering environment where youll work closely with civil engineers, designers, project managers, contractors, and other disciplines.
The role provides a combination of:
- Technical civil design
- Project management
- Client interaction
- Team leadership
- Permitting
- Construction administration
- Occasional field/site involvement
Typical schedule:
- MondayThursday: 7:30 a.m.5:30 p.m.
- Friday: Starting at 7:30 a.m.-11:30 am.
- Occasional weekend work may be needed based on project deadlines
Why This Role Could Be Interesting
This is a strong fit for a civil engineer who is ready for more project ownership without giving up the technical side of engineering.
Youll get the opportunity to own projects, develop client relationships, guide junior team members, solve technical challenges, and have a direct impact on how projects are delivered.
