Job Description

We are seeking an Architectural / Engineering Technician to support facility planning, lifecycle management, and building record maintenance for a large portfolio of facilities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with buildings, construction documentation, AutoCAD, and technical data, but doesn't want to spend their entire week drafting. The position focuses heavily on facility data management, record maintenance, and lifecycle tracking. Approximately 35% of the role involves managing and analyzing building information within a facility lifecycle management system, while approximately 15% involves updating existing AutoCAD drawings to reflect renovations, maintenance upgrades, and facility changes. This is not a traditional design position. Rather than creating new building designs, you'll help ensure facility records, databases, and drawings accurately reflect existing building conditions throughout the lifecycle of each facility. Why You Should Be Interested:

  • Long-term project stability with bond-funded work anticipated through November 2030
  • Strong opportunity for someone seeking a 3-5 year commitment
  • Potential future opportunities for longer-term employment based on organizational needs
  • $2,500 signing bonus
  • $2,500 annual retention bonus
  • Hybrid flexibility available after onboarding, with up to 2 work-from-home days per week based on performance and business needs
  • Opportunity to gain exposure to the full lifecycle of buildings, from construction and renovations to maintenance and facility operations
  • More variety than a traditional drafting position, combining AutoCAD, facility records, building systems, data analysis, audits, and occasional field work
  • Meaningful public-sector work supporting school facilities and the local community

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update facility lifecycle data for new construction, renovations, maintenance projects, and facility audits
  • Manage building and facility records within lifecycle management software
  • Maintain electronic record drawings and construction documentation
  • Update existing AutoCAD drawings to reflect facility modifications and renovations
  • Maintain and update floor plans, door schedules, security device locations, fire protection devices, and HVAC information
  • Catalog and organize drawing archives and facility records
  • Support facility condition assessments and audit activities
  • Coordinate and input information collected from facilities, maintenance, construction, and design teams
  • Conduct occasional field measurements and site investigations
  • Research facility records, historical drawings, and building documentation
  • Ensure building data and documentation remain accurate and current as facilities evolve over time

Qualifications:Must Have

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 3 years of experience related to architecture, drafting, facilities, engineering, construction documents, or building records
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
  • Experience updating and maintaining existing drawings accurately
  • Comfortable working extensively within databases, software platforms, and technical documentation systems
  • Experience managing construction, architectural, engineering, or facilities-related records and documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to manage large amounts of technical information and documentation
