Original job description

Acrobat Genomics is an early-stage, VC-backed biotech startup with a mission to invent impactful technologies that will lead to curative therapeutics. We come from a leading CRISPR lab at the interface of single cell genomics and gene editing at Stanford University and are innovators in leveraging DNA technologies and machine learning for high-throughput biology. We are located within MBC BioLabs, a well-equipped modern lab space with a rich community of companies building game-changing technologies.

Position

We are seeking an exceptional research associate who thrives in a fast-paced and creative environment. You will be part of the founding team and play a critical role in building new gene editing technologies to make a clinical impact. The ideal candidate has a broad range of molecular biology and computational biology skills and is eager to push our technology to new heights.

Responsibilities

  • Clone and deliver libraries to mammalian cells using transfection and transduction techniques
  • Execute and optimize NGS library preparation workflows
  • Define, document, and improve protocols
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data to help make key decisions
  • Assist in lab organization, including ordering supplies and restocking
  • Project planning in order to map out sets of experiments that advance towards key milestones

Required Qualifications

  • BS/MS or equivalent experience in biology, biological engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years hands-on molecular biology wet lab experience, including PCR and cloning (design, bacterial transformation, culture, plating, and plasmid purification)
  • Ability to document and maintain an organized account of lab work and results
  • Collaborative, curious, flexible, and strong communication skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment where quick adaptation is required

Why you might be a good fit

  • Experience with processing NGS data using Basespace, bcl2fastq, or custom scripts
  • Experience in advanced cloning techniques (Type IIS, Gateway, Gibson, etc.)
  • Experience with next-generation DNA sequencing library preparation
  • Experience with pooled assays like CRISPR screening and technology development
  • Experience with iPSC cell culture and/or neuronal cell culture
  • Experience with project management and coordinating experiments with CROs
  • We value different experiences and different ways of thinking and strongly believe the most talented teams are built by bringing together people of diverse cultures, genders, and backgrounds.
