Shift Supervisor

Pay Rate: $17.40/hr

Sign-on Bonus: $2000 for full-time positions

FUNCTION:

Provides the day to day supervision of the Pallet Assemblers. Trains the Material Handlers/Pallet Assemblers in the proper use of equipment and tools as well as the daily equipment maintenance and safety routines. Assists the Production Manager in the development of production schedules and assigns assemblers accordingly. Oversees the provision of all pallet assembly, including, but not limited to: building pallets, running and offloading the gang saw, use of radial arm and miter saws, loading and unloading trucks, driving the forklift, loading and unloading the kiln, running the automatic pallet assembler, running all other machines as required, and building crates. Reports to Assistant Plant Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinates with Production Manager to develop production schedules.

• Along with Production Manager, trains, and supervises all Pallet Assemblers on the use of the machines necessary to produce pallets and crates.

• Ensures the quality of pallets and crates produced during the shift.

• Ensures that shift workers meet production requirements.

• Ensures that all Pallet Assemblers are meeting safety requirements.

• Assists Production Managers/Assistant Director in maintaining equipment.

• Safely operates the forklift and the manual pallet jack to move materials.

• Loads and unloads the kiln.

• Loads and unloads wood trucks, some hand loading, and unloading may be required.

• Counts, stacks and bands pallets for shipping.

• Assembles crates and pallets.

• Supervises the inspection of pallets for bark before heat treating.

• Assists with the production and job set-up of the re-saw operation when needed.

• During the shift, assumes the responsibility for inventory management.

Operates equipment in a safe manner, such as:

• fork truck

• gang saw

• automatic pallet assembler

• block cutter

• chamfer machine

• table saw

• Must work effectively with individuals with intellectual disabilities.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• The equivalent of a high school diploma and one to two years of related production experience.
• Must meet Act 33/34 and FBI requirements.
• Applicants must have a valid PA driver’s license.
