Original job description

Summary

You've Never Been Satisfied with "Good Enough."

You didn't get into this to manage one piece of a project. You got into it to change how the world gets built.

At Accenture Construct, that's the job. You'll help deliver the data centers, power grids, rail networks, factories and public infrastructure that keep communities moving - smarter, safer and more sustainably.

You'll work alongside people who think big and act bold: project managers, engineers, technologists and strategists who pair real-world delivery with AI. And you won't be handed a slice of it. We take on whole programs, from early strategy through construction and handover, and we stand behind how they land.

Because "good enough" builds the past. You're here to build what's next.

As Accenture continues to grow, you may see a variety of new career opportunities, and depending on the role and location you may be directed to apply through Accenture LLP or one of our other legal entities - Accenture Construct LLC or Accenture Construct Inc., with benefits varying by country and role, so please check with your recruiter for details.

THE WORK:

+ Independent design assurance: You'll perform independent design assurance reviews of electrical engineering deliverables prepared by the EoR, OEMs, and major equipment suppliers for utility-scale CCGT projects, including one-line and three-line diagrams, equipment specifications, load lists, cable schedules, grounding designs, raceway layouts, protection and control schemes, relay settings/coordination, short-circuit, load-flow, and arc-flash studies, equipment layouts, and vendor drawings.

+ Plant electrical systems oversight: You'll provide technical oversight of major plant electrical systems and interfaces, including generators, isolated-phase bus, generator step-up transformers, unit auxiliary and station service transformers, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, large motors, VFDs, DC/UPS systems, emergency/backup power, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, raceway, cable systems, and electrical balance of plant.

+ Interface and capacity evaluation: You'll evaluate interfaces among gas and steam turbine generators, OEM electrical packages, plant auxiliary systems, the switchyard/interconnection, protection, excitation, and synchronization systems, and plant DCS/I&C, and review system capacity, redundancy, reliability, equipment ratings, auxiliary-load assumptions, and design margins against plant operating requirements and performance objectives.

+ Technical queries and changes: You'll review RFIs, technical queries, design deviations, field change notices, and proposed scope changes, providing owner-side recommendations on technical acceptability, electrical safety, reliability, cost/schedule implications, and required corrective actions.

+ Quality and constructability: You'll review NCRs and electrical installation/quality issues, evaluate EoR or contractor dispositions, and support mitigation of cable, termination, grounding, equipment, testing, protection, and installation deficiencies, while supporting constructability and installation reviews covering cable routing, raceway congestion, equipment access, grounding continuity, hazardous-area and separation requirements, maintainability, and temporary/permanent power sequencing.

+ Management of change: You'll support MOC by evaluating electrical scope changes and identifying impacts to system studies, equipment ratings, protection settings, drawings, cable schedules, construction work packages, energization plans, costs, and schedule.

+ Turnover, commissioning, and startup: You'll support electrical system turnover, energization, commissioning, synchronization, startup, and performance testing by reviewing test procedures, system boundaries, energization prerequisites, relay/protection testing, OEM requirements, punch items, and readiness documentation.

+ Coordination, documentation, and safety: You'll coordinate with mechanical, civil/structural, I&C, construction, commissioning, project controls, commercial, and operations teams to resolve interface issues; document findings, maintain technical issue/action logs, support risk management, and communicate material electrical risks to project leadership; and promote electrical safety by design by identifying conditions affecting personnel safety, equipment protection, plant reliability, operability, maintainability, or grid/interconnection performance.

+ Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite in St. Louis, Missouri, with our clients and project partners to enable delivery and cultivate strong client relationships.

$150,000 - $190,000 a year

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia or Washington as set forth below.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

+ Education and experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline, plus 8+ years supporting large capital projects in power generation or process industries (oil & gas, LNG, refining, chemicals, petrochemicals, or similar), including design review through engineering, procurement, construction, energization, and/or commissioning phases.

+ Technical knowledge: Strong working knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power distribution, transformers, switchgear, motors, grounding, protection and control, DC/UPS systems, cable/raceway systems, and equipment installation and testing, along with applicable codes and standards (NFPA 70/NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and other standards relevant to utility-scale power generation).

+ Review and communication skills: Ability to critically evaluate one-lines, wiring/control diagrams, protection schemes, equipment specifications, electrical studies, vendor drawings, and engineering change documentation, and to develop practical recommendations and communicate effectively with EoR engineers, contractors, OEMs, construction personnel, commissioning teams, and client stakeholders.

+ Field requirements: Ability to perform field walkdowns and observations on foot across active construction areas and moderate to rough terrain, while complying with project PPE and site safety requirements.

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

+ Power generation experience: Direct engineering, design assurance, construction, or commissioning experience on utility-scale combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) or simple-cycle gas generation projects.

+ Owner-side and design assurance roles: Experience in an Owner's Engineer, Owner's Representative, EPCM, or independent design assurance role, including reviewing Engineer of Record (EoR) deliverables and managing technical interfaces across OEMs, EPC contractors, construction contractors, and owner teams.
