The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with large-scale Medicaid enrollment, eligibility, and claims data to evaluate healthcare utilization, identify data quality issues, and support CMS analytical initiatives. This role will leverage Databricks and programming languages such as SQL and PySpark to analyze complex healthcare datasets, develop and execute data validation procedures, and produce actionable analytical findings. The analyst will collaborate with technical and program teams to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of Medicaid data used for research, reporting, and program oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze Medicaid T-MSIS and T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF) to support enrollment, eligibility, healthcare utilization, and data quality assessments.
  • Develop and execute analytical queries and data processing workflows using SQL and/or PySpark within Databricks.
  • Perform data profiling, validation, and quality assurance to assess the completeness, accuracy, consistency, and reliability of Medicaid data.
  • Analyze Medicaid enrollment trends, beneficiary characteristics, service utilization, and claims patterns across states and reporting periods.
  • Identify, investigate, and document data anomalies, discrepancies, and potential quality issues within T-MSIS and TAF datasets.
  • Support compliance with applicable healthcare data security, privacy, and governance requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent qualifying experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with relevant experience.
  • Programming experience with SQL and/or PySpark for data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis.
  • Experience working with large healthcare or administrative claims datasets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
  • US work authorization required and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, which may include fingerprinting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with CMS Medicaid data systems, data quality initiatives, or federal healthcare analytics programs.
  • Familiarity with T-MSIS and TAF data structures, file layouts, data dictionaries, and data quality requirements.
  • Experience analyzing Medicaid beneficiary enrollment, eligibility categories, managed care enrollment, and healthcare service utilization.
  • Experience working with Medicaid claims and encounter data, including inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy, and long-term services and supports.
  • Experience with Python or other statistical programming tools.
  • Understanding of Medicaid program operations, healthcare claims processing, and federal healthcare reporting requirements.
