Original job description
Absolute Business Solutions Corp (ABSC) is not just another tech company. We’re a community of innovators, engineers, analysts and business professionals working together with our customers to tackle the most complex challenges. For more than 20 years we’ve supported critical Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), Federal Civilian missions and global, multi-national corporations. We specialize in supporting our clients in the Intelligence, Technology, Defense, AI/ML, and Data Science fields. As we continue to grow at a rapid pace, we need some amazing new professionals to join our team.
ABSC has an exciting opening for a TS/SCI-cleared DevOps Platform Engineer and Linux Systems Administrator supporting DIA-NDOC’s D3P modernization under the DTP contract. You will operate the Kubernetes-based application platform and shared runtime services that support a production big-data pipeline, helping ensure the environment remains reliable, secure, scalable, and ready for mission use.
The 10-year DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP) program modernizes the secure data, application, and infrastructure capabilities supporting DIA’s National Digital Exploitation & OSINT Center (NDOC). The program delivers scalable media processing, data discovery, enrichment, and analytical services that help mission users transform large volumes of digital information into timely, actionable intelligence. Team members work across software development, systems engineering, cybersecurity, platform operations, and mission integration to sustain current operations while delivering the next generation of DTP capabilities.
Work location and schedule: Most work is performed onsite at the customer location in Bethesda, MD. A flexible schedule and occasional remote work may be available based on customer requirements and deliverables.
Security clearance required for this role: An active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph is required.
Responsibilities
As an integral member of the DTP team, you will work closely with Government stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams on the following key tasks:
- Deploy, configure, monitor, troubleshoot, patch, upgrade, and maintain a production platform built on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Redis, and related shared services.
- Administer Linux-based applications and systems, including installation, configuration, hardening, performance analysis, and operational troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot pod failures, networking issues, image pulls, scheduling constraints, certificates, storage, and application connectivity.
- Use Helm or comparable tools to manage Kubernetes application packages and configuration.
- Support shared platform services such as Elastic, Redis, message queues, API gateways, and other distributed services.
- Integrate platform services with physical and virtual infrastructure to maintain availability, reliability, security, and performance.
- Design and support scalable and redundant application infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure and platform automation using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Bash, Python, or comparable tools.
- Implement platform security, monitoring, logging, observability, capacity management, and DevOps best practices.
- Contribute to engineering documentation, diagrams, models, Agile release planning, scrums, design sessions, and bug triage.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field with four or more years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with two or more years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph.
- Current DoD 8140 IAT Level II or higher certification, such as Security+ CE or CySA+.
- Ability to obtain Privileged User Account certification as required by DoD 8140 policy.
- Hands-on experience administering and operating Kubernetes.
- Experience using Helm or a comparable Kubernetes package and configuration-management tool.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting Linux from the command line, including processes, filesystems, networking, permissions, logs, certificates, and system resources.
- Experience supporting at least one shared data or application platform service, such as Elastic, Redis, message queues, or API gateways.
- Familiarity with infrastructure and platform automation tools.
- Working knowledge of platform-security and observability practices.
- Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Desired Skills
You will wow us even more if you have some of these skills:
