Original job description

ABOUT AARU

Aaru operates at the frontier of predictive intelligence, using AI to simulate and predict human behavior at scale. By generating and deploying instances of artificial intelligence that mirror humans, called agents, Aaru simulates entire populations with unprecedented accuracy. Our partners use Aaru to refine strategic positioning, identify and understand high-value audiences, validate concepts and messaging before launch, optimize pricing decisions, and build a continuously richer understanding of their customers through simulation. We provide organizations with invaluable foresight, empowering them to anticipate outcomes and proactively make the right decisions at the right time, every time.

We're a small, dedicated, mission-driven team and we intend to stay that way. We believe the best work happens when exceptionally talented people are given ownership, trust and the space to operate without bureaucratic friction. We work with urgency and intellectual honesty and expect new team members to match our velocity. We seek individuals who thrive at the frontier, who push beyond conventional limits, who bring curiosity and conviction in equal measure, and who want their work to have demonstrable impact in the world. If you're energized by the idea of a small team doing things that feel impossible, let’s build together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an infrastructure security engineer, you will own security across the company and build the systems and practices that let us scale safely. You will set priorities and implement solutions across cloud infrastructure, identity and access management, autonomous agent security, software delivery, supply chain and employee devices.

This is an engineering role with broad ownership. You will work closely with engineering, research, and compliance to identify our most consequential risks, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and build security into how Aaru operates.

RESPONSBILITIES

Establish Aaru’s security roadmap and own execution, prioritizing risks as the company grows.
Build security controls for autonomous and coding agents, including sandboxing and scoped access to tools, data, and networks.
Own identity and access management across production systems and company tools, including SCIM and RBAC.
Secure cloud infrastructure and the software supply chain, including CI/CD pipelines, dependencies, secrets, and build artifacts.
Operate and evolve endpoint security, device management and vulnerability findings.
Build monitoring, detection, and incident response capabilities.
Partner with engineers on threat modeling and architecture reviews.
Work with compliance leads to ensure security controls are effective, auditable, and practical.

YOU MAY BE A FIT IF

You have secured production infrastructure.
You have strong infrastructure engineering fundamentals across networking, cloud services, containers, and distributed systems.
You can assess unfamiliar systems, identify meaningful risks, and decide what deserves attention first.
You have built internal tools or platforms that engineers want to use.
You can explain security tradeoffs clearly and work with teams to resolve them.

STRONG CANDIDATES MAY ALSO HAVE

Experience working at the frontier of agentic development
Strong understanding of modern authentication and authorization primitives
Experience in securing VMs and engineering supply chain
Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, TLS, TCP, or related systems
Experience designing infrastructure for high-scale data or machine learning workloads
A track record of finding and eliminating bottlenecks in complex systems

LOCATION

This role is based in New York City. Aaru is an in-person company, and the team works in-office five days a week. Candidates are expected to be located within the New York City metropolitan area or open to relocation.

BENEFITS

At Aaru, we take care of our people. In addition to a competitive base salary and equity participation, we offer comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, visa sponsorship and relocation support, and various other benefits and perks.
