About Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA)
CAA was founded in 1969 to protect the civil and political rights of Chinese Americans and to advance multiracial democracy in the United States. Today, CAA is a progressive voice in and on behalf of the broader Asian American and Pacific Islander community. CAA advocates for systemic change that protects immigrant rights, promotes language diversity, and remedies racial and social injustice.
About SFILEN and SFFRN
The San Francisco Immigrant Legal and Education Network (SFILEN) and the San Francisco Rapid Response Network (SFRRN), are two leading immigration legal service networks in the City. Since their founding in 2006 and 2008 respectively, both networks have paved the way as successful models for multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-strategy coalition building to advance immigrant rights and immigrant access to legal services.
The San Francisco Rapid Response Network (SFRRN) is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, immigration enforcement response hotline serving the City of San Francisco. Founded in 2008, and revamped in 2016, SFRRN was one of the first, and remains one of the few 24/7 immigration enforcement response hotlines in the country. SFRRN houses 8 immigration focused community based organizations who staff the 24/7 hotline, verifies immigration enforcement activity in San Francisco, connects San Franciscans to legal and accompaniment services, and provides immigration centered Know-Your-Rights to immigrant community members citywide.
In 2026, CAA became the lead and fiscal agency to house SFILEN and SFRRN. As a founding and active member of these networks, CAA is committed to the health and wellbeing of both collaboratives in order that partners may continue to serve immigrant communities with immigration legal services and community education in the face of heightened immigration enforcement and rising xenophobia.
