About Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA)
CAA was founded in 1969 to protect the civil and political rights of Chinese Americans and to advance multiracial democracy in the United States. Today, CAA is a progressive voice in and on behalf of the broader Asian American and Pacific Islander community. CAA advocates for systemic change that protects immigrant rights, promotes language diversity, and remedies racial and social injustice.
About SF Immigrant Legal and Education Network (SFILEN)
The San Francisco Immigrant Legal and Education Network (SFILEN), a 20 year old trailblazing network, was founded in 2006 to provide free multi-lingual and culturally relevant immigration legal services and community education to San Francisco’s working class, limited-English proficient, immigrant communities. Since its founding the network has paved the way as a successful model for multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-strategy coalition building to advance immigrant rights and immigrant access to legal services.
In 2026, CAA became the lead and fiscal agency to house SFILEN, and the San Francisco Rapid Response Network (SFRRN). As a founding and active member of these networks, CAA is committed to the health and wellbeing of both collaboratives in order that partners may continue to serve immigrant communities with immigration legal services and community education in the face of heightened immigration enforcement and rising xenophobia.
