About Three Strands

Three Strands Group is the portfolio company that houses 49 Financial, The Collective, and Alongside. It serves as the shared services organization for the portfolio, providing the operational foundation that supports each business across the platform. By centralizing key business functions, Three Strands Group creates consistency, drives operational excellence, and enables each organization to focus on serving its clients while benefiting from the strength and efficiency of a shared infrastructure.

Position Summary

This is an entrepreneurial, fast-paced role at the center of Three Strands Group’s growth, spanning corporate development and corporate strategy. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Development, the Associate pairs rigorous financial and quantitative analysis with the qualitative side of the work: shaping strategy, running complex projects and partnering directly with senior leadership. In a given week, that could mean evaluating a new venture, structuring a new partnership, sizing a capital decision and turning an approved initiative into an operating reality, often all at the same time. The right candidate is highly organized, comfortable with ambiguity and energized by autonomy: someone who can take a loosely defined problem, figure out what matters and come back with a clear, well-reasoned recommendation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Modeling

  • Build and maintain financial models – pro formas, growth and sensitivity models, cash forecasts and ownership or distribution waterfalls – that inform decisions across the businesses.
  • Analyze the economics of business lines, revenue-sharing arrangements, translating results into clear takeaways on margin, breakeven, payback and returns.
  • Support holding-company budgeting, rolling forecasts and monthly performance reporting in partnership with the finance and accounting team.

New Ventures, Partnerships & Capital

  • Support the evaluation of new ventures, joint ventures, partnerships and acquisitions through market research, financial diligence, valuation and scenario analysis.
  • Help prepare lender and investor materials, data requests and diligence responses for capital initiatives.
  • Review term sheets and agreements for economic terms and flag gaps between the legal documents and the model.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Manage workplans, timelines, trackers and open items across several concurrent initiatives, reprioritizing as needs shift.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (finance, operations, compliance, legal, HR) and outside parties (counsel, lenders, partners) to gather inputs and keep workstreams on schedule.
  • Help take approved initiatives from concept to implementation – templates, processes, onboarding materials and reporting that let the business run them.

Executive Materials & Communication

  • Turn loosely defined asks into structured first drafts – model, analysis or presentations – with assumptions stated, open questions flagged and a recommendation.
  • Draft presentations, memos and summaries for the VP of Corporate Development and senior leadership that lay out options, tradeoffs and a recommendation.
  • Build reusable tools – model, statement, deck and memo templates, AI skills and automated routines – that improve the team’s speed and consistency.

Core Competencies

  • Alignment with the companies values and culture.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and discretion in all interactions.
  • Accountability for execution, outcomes, and follow-through.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, Big 4 or a similar analytical finance or strategy role.
  • Advanced Excel modeling: pro forma builds, scenario and sensitivity analysis, DCF and returns analysis.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills and the ability to build clean, executive-ready materials.
  • Comfort and demonstrated competency with AI tools, including Claude and ChatGPT – building skills, custom workflows and automated routines, and leveraging the full extent of AI capabilities in the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of valuation techniques and common deal structures.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Preferred: exposure to wealth management, RIAs, insurance, or financial services.

Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Occasional standing, walking, or lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Travel Expectations: 10%
